Mike Ziethlow formed The Dead Languages as a studio project after the breakup of his band Meridian. Ziethlow was determined to play the role of auteur and hired 16 musicians to execute his vision, including Americana artist Camila Ballario and Wayne Sermon of Imagine Dragons.
